Elizabeth Holmes Headshot.jpeg

Dr. Elizabeth Holmes is a versatile performer and teacher of singing, specializing in classical and musical theater styles. Dr. Holmes joined the faculty at Coker University in the fall of 2022, where she is Clinical Assistant Professor of Music (Vocal Studies) and the director of the Coker Community Music Program. She previously taught at Shenandoah Conservatory, Shepherd University, and West Virginia University. She holds a Doctor of Music in voice performance from Shenandoah University, an MM from West Virginia University, and a BA from Emory University. 

Prior to starting her doctorate, Elizabeth performed extensively in professional opera, musical theatre, and concert productions in the Philadelphia area. Favorite roles include Adina in Donizetti's L'Elisir d'Amore, Angelina in Gilbert and Sullivan's Trial by Jury, June in Musical of Musicals: The Musical, and Peaches/ Baby Jane in Jerry Springer: The Opera.
 

Elizabeth has been teaching voice since 2005, and is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), the Musical Theatre Educators Alliance (MTEA), and The Voice Foundation. Her students have achieved a wide variety of goals, including appearances on The Voice, professional performances off-Broadway and in regional opera and musical theatre productions, leading roles in high school and community theatre musicals, singing in elite choirs, admission to competitive undergraduate and graduate voice programs, and preparing for careers in music therapy and music education.

Elizabeth has long been fascinated by the mody-mind connection, and has been a regular yoga practitioner for over 15 years. In the spring of 2024, she became a registered 200-hour Yoga Teacher. 

When she is not singing or teaching, Elizabeth can be found indulging in foodie television, spending time with her family and Goldendoodle, and making pretzel shapes on her yoga mat.
